GoDaddy, the internet domain web site famous for its provocative Super Bowl commercials, has been sold to KKR & Co. and two other firms for $2.25 billion, people familiar said, according to reports. In a released statement, CEO Bob Parsons said the deal with KKR, Silver Lake and Technology Crossover Ventures was a possibility he had been looking forward to.
“I’ve always said we would make a move like this when the right deal with the right partners could help us do the right thing for our customers and our employees,” he said.
He said he was partnering with the firms because “of their technology expertise, their understanding of Web based businesses and because their values align with ours.
“We believe, together, we will take the company to the next level, especially when it comes to accelerating international growth,” Parsons said.
The heat is still on and people are still outraged by the public display of GoDaddy CEO Bob Parson’s “elephant-killing” skills. Namecheap had even jumped on the bandwagon with some smart marketing by promoting their BYEBYEGD coupon code at $4.99. Originally they have only made their coupon valid for 24 hours, but due to the outpouring of support (I believe outraged animal lovers of the elephant kind are moving their domains away to Namecheap in droves), they extended it to April 4th at 11.59pm EST. There are only a few hours left, so grab it while you still have the time.
Yeah, this is about the strangest deal I’ve seen in the hosting world. The CEO of GoDaddy, Bob Parson, kills an elephant recorded on video, which was uploaded on YouTube and sparked outrage amongst animal activists. So Namecheap decided to offer $4.99 domain transfers for a 24 hour period (limited to 10 domains per account).
Once a month, Namecheap releases a new discount code for new domain registrations. When the month ends, the discount codes expire. They do not need to be expiring domains either, by transferring them, you are simply extending the expiration date by 12 months. The transfer process is easy and you can save a lot of money in the process as well. In addition to the new discounted price, you will also get your FREE Whois Guard with every new domain registration or transfer. Plus if you have the need, you can also get a FREE Comodo Positive SSL with your domain registration.
Here is the Namecheap coupon for registering a new domain name for January 2011.

Among the biggest difficulties in being a new webmaster is attempting to gain traffic. This is because trying to build valid traffic calls for both time and money. How is this so? Well, whenever a webmaster is trying to get traffic through search engines, they will need to spend a good deal of time with link-building and content creation. If they are seeking to get traffic by a pay-per-click program, they will have to invest hundreds to thousands of dollars if they would like to make the best of a high-performance keyword. Nevertheless, there is a different option that can allow for a webmaster to obtain tons of hits without being forced to invest a great deal in time or money. It involves buying expired domain names.
